PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLACEMENTS FOR ACADEMIC STAFF
Develop your teaching and research practice through an individually agreed programme in multilingualism, corpus-based translation and interpreting studies.
What You Can Work On
Choose a focus connected with your professional needs. The following areas provide a starting point for an individual programme; activities are agreed with the centre before the placement begins.
01
Multilingual Education
Develop teaching approaches and learning materials for multilingual audiences. Explore language choice, inclusive classroom communication and multilingual learning activities.
02
Corpus Methods for Teaching and Research
Select suitable corpora, design searches and analyse language evidence. Develop corpus-based tasks or a small, documented research dataset.
03
Translation and Terminology
Compare translations, investigate specialist terminology and prepare resources for translation teaching or research.
04
Interpreting and Spoken Communication
Develop interpreting exercises and analyse spoken communication. Use of the laboratory and its facilities is subject to prior agreement and availability.

Practical Information
Who can apply?
Lecturers, researchers and other academic staff whose professional interests align with the centre’s scope. Acceptance depends on an agreed programme and the availability of suitable supervision.
Formats
On-site: activities take place in person at VIZJA University in Warsaw. Online: participation takes place remotely through agreed meetings, consultations and independent tasks. Blended: the programme combines on-site and online activities.
Duration and workload
Placements typically last from two weeks to two months. Exact dates, total workload, meeting arrangements and the balance between supervised and independent work are agreed in the individual programme. Calendar duration does not automatically determine the number of training hours or credits.
Language, completion and recognition
The working language and any prerequisite skills are agreed for the proposed programme. Completion is assessed against the individual plan and final output. The form of completion documentation is confirmed in advance; recognition by an employer or another institution depends on that institution’s requirements.
Documents
The placement documentation includes an application, an agreed individual programme, confirmation of supervision, a record of activities and a final report or assessment. Approved templates and any programme-specific conditions will be provided when finalised.
Placement Application
Complete this initial application in English. Applying for a placement is separate from applying for ARCTIS membership and does not guarantee acceptance. We will contact you to discuss the proposed programme, supervision and practical arrangements.
